Phoenix Fuel Low Carbon Schools

Phoenix Fuel Low Carbon Schools

Phoenix has won the supply contract to provide low carbon fuel to a series of new build schools in Nottingham, Manchester and Durham. The British-grown, cold pressed rapeseed oil supplied by Phoenix will be used to fuel ultra-efficient combined heat and power (CHP) units that will provide electricity, heating and hot water to each school.

Phoenix Group rapeseed oil, known as pure plant oil (PPO) was chosen over other suppliers because it is produced from 100% UK Rapeseed, which is traceable back to the farm and the field it was grown in. As well as being fully OFGEM compliant. The non-intensive cold pressing process that Phoenix use produces PPO which is much greener than refined rapeseed oil.

PPO supplied to the schools is provided in partnership with LowC Communities. LowC are the energy centre technology supplier for the new schools and are industry leaders in providing low carbon energy solutions.
