British Model Bio-fuels: a world apart from mass production alternatives

The Phoenix Group is helping to clarify the biofuels debate by distinguishing British Model biofuels from other globally-produced biofuels, which are having a negative impact on the planet’s environment.

Not only are British Model biofuels a world apart from the mass production alternatives, when produced under the Phoenix cyclical model they are a primary source of sustainable green energy.

The World Rainforest Movement agrees:

“For biofuels to become a positive solution the approach must change completely. It must change from production for a global market to production for local supply, from monoculture plantations to diversity, from monopoly to decentralization, from socially and environmentally destructive to respect for people and nature.”

The National Farmers Union (www.nfuonline.com) confirmed in mid April 2008 that we can draw a clear distinction between bio-fuels produced to the "The British Model" and bio-fuels produced across the globe, which are endangering precious environments.

National Farmers Union president Peter Kendall says:

"There is a world of difference between bio-fuels grown on cleared rain-forest and then transported half way across the globe and those grown sustainably here in Britain.

People can use bio-fuels produced to the British model with a clear conscience, knowing they are doing their bit for the environment - and I urge them to do so.”

With reference to the global issues Mr Kendall explained:

“the core problem is years of under-investment in agriculture around the world – the result of unsustainably low prices.”

He continued:

“In the UK we can produce all of the biodiesel and bioethanol needed to meet the targets of the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation from feed wheat that would otherwise be exported, or oilseed rape grown on former set aside land.

“Biofuels are at present the only viable, renewable alternative to fossil fuels in road transport. We need to develop this technology if we are to beat climate change without seriously restricting personal mobility.”
